'Love's revenge', opera in two acts for solo voices (SSSB or SSAB), strings, and continuo. Libretto by John Hoadly. Also known as Florimel. Full score, copied from Royal College of Music MS. 226, evidently in 1743. Before and following the score is the libretto in the hand of Hoadly, and p. i has an autograph presentation note by him 'To James Harris Esq: This pastoral (compos'd by Dr Maurice Greene, Master of his Majesty's Musick,) is presented, as an imperfect testimony of his great esteem, by his sincere and affectionate friend the author'. An autograph poem by Hoadly in the University Library, Otago, New Zealand, is addressed 'To James Harris Esqe with the following Pastoral and the music in score, 1743', and evidently refers to this manuscript. The 1736 date of composition given in the title (p. iii) would seem to be erroneous, unless referring to a revision, for the work was first performed in 1734.
