Vocal duets by Agostino Steffani and Alessandro Stradella. Score in the hand of an early 18th-cent. Italian copyist, with old pagination 177-297 in red crayon (on rectos only). Originally part of a larger manuscript or set of volumes ('II vol. 51' in red crayon on. p. 177).
(a) 'Duetti à canto e alto del Sgre. Abbe Stefani [sic]'. For soprano, alto and continuo (figured bass). Although numbered 1-7, they in fact constitute only 3 duets, the first having 4 and the second 2 sections:
1 (pp. 177-211) 'Lunge dall'idol mio' (with later sections, 'Nulla più mi ricrèa' (pp. 189-196), 'In si misero stato' (pp. 197-205), 'Peggio far non mi può' (pp. 205-211));
2 (pp. 212-231) 'Che volete ò crude pene' (with later section, 'Come poss'io', pp. 225-231);
3 (pp. 232-266) 'Occhi perche piangete'.
(b) Two duets by Alessandro Stradella, both headed 'Duetto à canto, e basso del Sgre. Stradella'. For soprano, bass and continuo (figured bass):
1 (pp. 269-286) 'Il gel di gelosia', from the cantata Chi dirà che nel veleno [Gianturco 1.2-3];
2 (pp. 287-297) 'Nel seren de suoi contendi', from the oratorio San Giovanni Battista [Gianturco 3.3].
