Italian cantatas by Antonio Caldara, Francesco Mancini and Carlo Francesco Cesarini, partly autographs. Probably written between 1708 and 1716. On uniform paper, and probably compiled as a presentation volume, despite the presence of three hands.
a (fols. 3-16v) 'L'Arianna. Cantata a voce sola. Musica del Sigr. Antonio Caldara'. Begins: Ebra d'amor fuggia. For soprano and continuo. Music apparently autograph, title-page and text in the hand of Francesco Lanciani.
b (fols. 19-91v) 'Cantata à tre voci con V.V. e corni da caccio del Sigr. Antonio Caldara'. Begins: Nice, lascia d'amar'. For 2 sopranos, contralto, 2 horns, 2 violins, cello and continuo. Autograph.
c (fols. 93-106) 'L'Arianna. Del Sigr. Mancini'. Begins: Ebra d'amor fuggia. For soprano and continuo. In the hand of Francesco Lanciani.
d (fols. 107-116v) 'Cantata a voce sola. Del Sigr. Carlo Cesarini'. Begins: Già gl'angelli canori. For soprano and continuo. Anonymous copyist.
e (fols. 117-32v) 'L'Arianna. Cantata à voce sola. Del Sigr. Mancini'. Begins: Chefai di questo scoglio misera habitatrice. For soprano and continuo. In the hand of Francesco Lanciani.

Custodial History
Owned 1787 by Thomas Bever, All Souls College, Oxford, being a present from Mrs Hamilton, from the collection of her father, the organist John Keeble (c 1711-1786). Purchased by 'W.H.' at the sale of Bever's collection in 1798. Subsequently donated to the Music Faculty Library (previous shelfmark: M.S.L. 18. d. 1. (Misc. 6)).
