'Sex litaniae lauretanae. ... [Opus] X' by Johann Melchior Dreyer composed in 1796. Violin 1 part only. German or North European copy, dated 1826 at the end (fol. 11), and presumably copied from the printed edition (Augsburg: J. J. Lotter, 1796).

Also loosely inserted is a copy, in another hand, of the violin 1 part of the 'Missa IV de Fr. Bühler, Opus I' (i.e. from VI. Missae, op. 1), by Franz Gregor Bühler (1760-1824), again presumably copied from the printed edtion (Augsburg: J.J. Lotter, 1814). i + 14 leaves.

Custodial History

An early 20th-cent. note (fol. i) records that it was brought home from the library of the Cathedral at Ypres to Steyning, Sussex, by a soldier named Mitchell, evidently during World War I. Later owned by E. Burritt Lane (of Steyning Parish Church).
