Biographical / Historical

Falconer Madan (1851-1935) was Bodley's Librarian, a palaeographer and bibliographer. Details are given in Who Was Who.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The correspondence was given by F.F. Madan to C.J. Hindle for the Bodleian in 1947; and given to the Libary by Hindle on his retirement in 1963.
