Miscellaneous papers (maps, charts, journals, drawings, extracts and the like, some printed), by or collected by Thomas Shaw, the traveller, principal of St. Edmund Hall at Oxford (d. A.D. 1751). They principally concern Algeria, Egypt and Palestine with Sinai, but are a fragmentary and ill-digested collection, and were used, but not exhausted, in Shaw's Travels or Observations relating to Barbary and the Levant (Oxf., 1738-46, folio).

Immediate Source of Acquisition
These volumes were bequeathed by Dr. Shaw who died on Aug. 15, 1751, and were received on Dec. 13 in the same year.
