Biographical / Historical

Murray Graeme Dickson (1911-1997) worked in the Prison Service (Borstals), 1935-1940 and served in Force 136 during the Second World War. In 1947 he entered the Colonial Service, becoming Education Officer, Sarawak in 1947, Deputy Director of Education in 1952 and Director of Education, 1955-1956. After his retirement he served as Unesco adviser on educational planning to the Government of Lesotho, 1967-1968. He was the author of a manual on understanding Kant and the translator of medieval and classical texts. He also wrote and compiled Sarawak and its people ([Kuching], Hong Kong, Borneo Literature Bureau,1964) and A Sarawak anthology.
