'Recueil des sepultures, tombeaux et inscriptions qui sont dans toutes les eglises abbayes et monasteres de la ville et fauxbourgs de Paris ... 1645', the first four volumes of a set of thirteen. Each volume has a list of the churches represented in it (about 75 in all), and there are many coats of arms in trick.

An index of names in the four volumes is in MS. French b. 2/3 at p. 407. The epitaphs at the cathedral of Notre-Dame occupy pp. 3-114 of MS. French b. 2/4. Defaced bookplates are in all the volumes, and a defaced note of ownership (?) at p. iii of MS. French b. 2/3. An epitaph in i. p. 234 refers to a death in 1681.

Custodial History

The full set of thirteen volumes was in T. Thorpe's Catal. of Ancient Manuscripts, 1836, art. 479, priced £35. It was bought by sir Thomas Phillipps in that year, and was no. 8759 in his library, but one volume was then missing.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

In messrs. Hodgson's sale on Nov. 3, 1909 (lot 280) it was purchased by the Bodleian.
