Archive of J. B. Leishman

Biographical / Historical

James Blair Leishman (1902-1963) was a scholar. He was University Lecturer in English Literature, Oxford, from 1946. His publications included translations from the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926). Details are given in Who Was Who.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The papers were given to the Library by Leishman's literary executors, Geoffrey Tillotson and J. E. Butt, in 1964.
