Biographical / Historical

Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932) was an author and the Secretary of the Bank of England. He married Elspeth Thomson in 1899. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Custodial History

The papers were left by Elspeth Grahame to her brother Courtauld, Baron Courtauld-Thomson, in 1946.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The papers were bought from the Dorneywood Trust in 1961.
