'Pavanes, Galliardes, Ayres, Almains, Coranto's, Sarabrands, Morisca's, Maskes, and Contry-dances, composed occasionally by excellent moderne Musick-Masters: and now methodically digested into theyre proper & distinct Keys, for the Base & Treble Violls', 'Bassus 1654' (the corresponding volume for a treble viol is wanting). This volume contains about 515 short pieces, many with composers' names, of which the following are the principal:- Charles Coleman, William Lawes, John Taylor, John Jenkins, Ambrose Beeland, Theophilus Lupo, David Mell, capt. Henry Cooke, George Hudson, Thomas Pratt, and John Gamble. At pp. 186, 182 rev. are lists of books bought (partly, at least) in Sept. 1736, chiefly from 'J. McFarland.'.
