Fifty-six musical pieces, about half of which are Latin anthems, and the rest Italian airs or songs, except that there are two English pieces by Thomas Lupo ('Out of the deep'), and Thomas Morley ('Staye, harte'). Each volume contains the part for one voice of all the pieces which have it. Among the few composers whose names are given are: -- William Bird (two anthems), Thomas Lupo (several airs), Giovanni Coperario, Alfonso Ferabosco the elder, Luca Marenzio, Alessandro Striggio, and John Ward.
