  1. the United States of America and Anglo-American affairs (including trade between Canada and America, navigation laws, fisheries, copyright, and the recruitment of American citizens for the British army in the Crimea), 1848-1856
  2. Russia, 1858-1861
  3. Spain, 1861, 1868
  4. Personal papers, 1836-1886.

There is no correspondence for the years 1846-1847, and very little apart from bills for the years 1869-1886, but there is a register containing abstracts of Crampton's 'private' letters to and from the Foreign Office, 1852-1868. Also includes a portrait of Crampton as a young man.

Sir John Crampton (1805-1886) of Bushey Park, Enniskerry, co. Wicklow was a diplomat. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.
