Correspondence and papers of Crampton mainly relating to:
- the United States of America and Anglo-American affairs (including trade between Canada and America, navigation laws, fisheries, copyright, and the recruitment of American citizens for the British army in the Crimea), 1848-1856
- Russia, 1858-1861
- Spain, 1861, 1868
- Personal papers, 1836-1886.
There is no correspondence for the years 1846-1847, and very little apart from bills for the years 1869-1886, but there is a register containing abstracts of Crampton's 'private' letters to and from the Foreign Office, 1852-1868. Also includes a portrait of Crampton as a young man.
