Abstract
Thirteen volumes, chiefly Dr. Bulkeley Bandinel's notebooks, 15th-19th century.
Biographical / Historical
Bulkeley Bandinel (1781–1861) was Bodley's librarian.
Other Finding Aids
Falconer Madan, et al., A summary catalogue of western manuscripts in the Bodleian Library at Oxford which have not hitherto been catalogued in the Quarto series (7 vols. in 8 [vol. II in 2 parts], Oxford, 1895-1953; reprinted, with corrections in vols. I and VII, Munich, 1980), vol. V, nos. 28792-28804.
Our best descriptions for medieval items in this collection are in Medieval Manuscripts in Oxford Libraries under MSS. Add. C., MSS. Add. D..
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The thirteen volumes may be regarded as accessions of this year [1861], since they are chiefly notebooks of Dr. Bulkeley Bandinel who died on Feb. 6, 1861: they probably never left the Library after his resignation of the librarianship at Michaelmas 1860.
