Italian sacred music of the late-17th or early-18th cent. All the works are anonymous, except item (e), which is by Alessandro Melani.

Full scores, written on various papers and in three 18th-cent. hands; items (c) and (d) are in the early hand (c 1730?) of William Boyce (1711-1779), for whom the volume was bound (the lot no. 217 from the Boyce sale is just visible on the front cover); the other hands are distributed as follows: items (a)-(b), Hand A; item (e), Hand B. An index by Joseph Gwilt on fol. i wrongly attributes items (a)-(b) also to Boyce's hand.

a (fols. 1-8v) [Anon.]: Domine ad adiuvandum. For SATB, 2 trumpets, strings and continuo. In D major;

b (fols. 9-42v) [Anon.]: Confitebor tibi Domine. For SATB soli, SATB chorus, strings and continuo. In G minor;

c (fols. 43-56v) [Anon.]: Excerpts from a mass mostly in G minor: Kyrie and Gloria (finishing at 'Agnus Dei filus patris'), for SSAATTB and continuo; Agnus Dei (1st section only), for SSAATTBB and continuo, in F major; Crucifixus and Et resurrexit, for SATB and continuo; Benedictus, for SATB and continuo;

d (fols. 57-60v) [Anon.]: Kyrie. For SATB, 3 trumpets, timpani, strings and continuo. In C major;

e (fols. 64-92v) Alessandro Melani: Silete venti. Motet for SSAATTBB, 2 trumpets, strings and continuo.
