Sir Charles Villiers Stanford: 'String quartet (No. 7). Op. 166. No. 1'
String quartet no. 7, in C minor, op. 166 by Sir Charles Villiers Stanford. Autograph score, fair copy in ink, with a few corrections, dated at end 'Malvern, Jan 1 [19]19'. Rehearsal numbers and a few annotations added in pencil. The work comprises the whole of op. 166, despite the presence of 'No. 1' in the title.
Unpublished (though the work is thought to have been available for hire from Stainer & Bell at some point). Recorded in 2017 for Somm Recordings by the Dante Quartet, using performing materials assembled by Jeremy Dibble from a set of manuscript parts in the Robinson Library, Newcastle University.
