Custodial History

At the foot of p. 1 is a pencil note: 'Autograph of Vaughan Williams "Shepherds of the Delectable Mountains". Composer gave it to me, as he regarded the written music as purely mechanical and of no account. Claude Aveling, R.C.M. about 1927'.

Transferred from the Faculty of Music Library, 2002, where it was found amongst manuscripts collected by Sir Hugh Allen.
