Vocal music by Giacomo Carissimi, Henry Purcell, John Blow. Full score in the hand of Francis Smith (1672-98), a singing-man and copyist at Christ Church (see Christ Church, Mus. 37 and 53), written in the 1690s. An 18th-cent. hand (perhaps of John Groombridge - see below) has added an incomplete reduction of the vocal parts of a William Croft anthem at the end.

a (pp. 1-60) 'Carissimi's mass', with a note at the opening, 'This symph. by Dan. Purcell'. For 3-part chorus (TTB), 2 violins and continuo, comprising Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei and Credo, in that order. This is the Mass 'Sciolto havean dall'alte sponde' by Giacomo Carissimi, which exists in various 3-5-voice versions, with and without violins, and with various added 'symphonies'. This version is also found in MS. Tenbury 1268.

b (pp. 61-102) Henry Purcell: Te Deum and Jubilate in D major, Z. 232. Not copied from the 1697 edition.

c (pp. 103-151) John Blow: Te Deum and Jubilate in D major, for soloists, SATB chorus, 2 trumpets, 2 violins and continuo; composed 1695.

d (pp. 152-197) Henry Purcell: 'Queen Maries birthday song' ['Celebrate this festival'], Z. 321.

e (pp. 198-202) 'One of Doc[to]r Crofts anthems' [William Croft: 'We will rejoice in thy salvation']. Reduction of the voice parts (without words) for the first section, continued by vocal bass part only, breaking off incomplete.
