Church music copied by several hands. The first hand, probably John Merry's (see p. 7), copied psalm tunes in 4 parts, with melody in tenor, on pp. 1-9 and 11-15. The second hand (after 1790, see nos. 23 and 25) copied psalm tunes in two and three parts for clarinets and bassoon (pp. 4, 26-31 and 34-39) and psalm tunes (pp. 40-41, 50, 64-72 and 123). The third hand copied various church music for 1, 2, 3 and 4 voices (pp. 18-19, 20, 52-59, 73-116 and 118). Music added in pencil on pp. 32-33, 80, 89-90 and 109-110 is probably in the hand of Thomas Merry of Souldern, Oxon., whose name is inside the front cover. Other writers also filled spaces.
