An elaborate petition from Matthew Bulwer, a schoolboy, to his master, begging him to grant some Christmas holidays. It consists of two prose introductions, and four sets of verses, all in Latin: imperfect at end. The expression 'Cervina Vada' shows that the school was at Hertford, and an acrostic that the master's name was Minors.

A Ralph Minors formerly schoolmaster of Hale's Grammar School at Hertford died about 1720. Some clumsy coloured ornament heads the petition, not quite perfect..
