The manuscript title-page within an engraved border reads 'This book of songs is compos'd [i.e. compiled and ?partly arranged] by and humbly dedicated to Mrs. Vavasour by her most oblig'd & obt. servt. Numpy Crackabout'. In pencil is added the name 'John Chaloner', which may possibly be the identity of the pseudonymous compiler.
