A battle scene near a sea coast
A battle scene near a sea coast, depicted with much detail at three successive stages: identified by prof. Oman as a series of pictures of the battle of Pinkie near Musselburgh, won by the English over the Scots (who were driven back, as here shown, into Edinburgh) on Sept. 10, 1547.
In two places Sella (or Silla) and Vinsto (or Vmsto) are written. 'John Ramsey gentyll mane with out mony. Symon Peter' is scribbled (17th cent.).
