Professional copy of the score, giving voice parts and instrumental obbligato with bass not figured. The title page is printed and bears the imprint of le Sieur Foucault, Paris (an earlier state of the page is reproduced in Oeuvres Complètes... Les Operas, II, Alceste, ed. H. Prunières, 1932, p. [1] from the manuscript 'E' (described op. cit. p. xxxix), which this manuscript very closely resembles).

The version originally copied by the scribe was edited and emended by a nearly contemporary hand, to agree, except in some small details, with the text printed in op. cit. Pencil notes on fols. 3, 29v, 50v, 62v, etc., are the work of someone making a close study of the score, possibly Vincent d'Indy (see below).

Stamped 'Bibliothèque du Roi [Charles Duc d'Orleans] Palais Royal'. Earlier owned by his great-grandfather Louis-Alexandre de Bourbon, Comte de Toulouse. Bought by [C. Dulong (?)] at the Toulouse sale, 1852. 'Vincent d'Indy emit: Anno 1873' on fol. iii.

i + 148 leaves, numbered by copyist 1-148, in fours, plus modern end-papers. 12 staves to a page, no marginal ruling. Watermark, grapes on a hook, countermark 'A [heart] R' on a panel. Modern binding: quarter calf and marbled paper. Stamped 'Bibliotèque du Roi [Charles Duc d'Orleans] Palais Royal'.
