The title page is printed and bears the imprint of le Sieur Foucault, Paris (an earlier state of the page is reproduced in Oeuvres Complètes... Les Operas, II, Alceste, ed. H. Prunières, 1932, p. [1] from the manuscript 'E' (described op. cit. p. xxxix), which this manuscript very closely resembles).

The version originally copied by the scribe was edited and emended by a nearly contemporary hand, to agree, except in some small details, with the text printed in op. cit. Pencil notes on fols. 3, 29v, 50v, 62v, etc., are the work of someone making a close study of the score, possibly Vincent d'Indy (see below).
