The first part (fols. 3-41), copied 1785-1787 or later, contains 15 pieces by Heathcote with dates (ranging from 1784 to 1787) and places of composition. Also included are pieces by Dr. Arne, Dr. B. Cooke, Dr. Harrington, Dr. W. Hayes and Dr. Phil. Hayes, John Hilton, Simon Ives, S. Long, Ed. Nelham, H. Purcell, and Dr. Rogers, and 'On the Death of the Duke of Cumberland', 1765, by Thomas Norris. Some of these are printed in The Musical Companion, 1673, The Second Book of the Pleasant Musical Companion, 4th ed., 1701, and in Thomas Warren's A fourth collection of catches, canons and glees; 'Hey down a down' (fol. 7), attributed to J. Hilton, is in Catch that Catch Can, 1667, p. 75, attributed to Edmund Nelham. To 4 pieces Heathcote added parts.

The second part (fols. 42-96, 78-93 blank; originally paginated to 66) was copied earlier and contains 6 pieces by 'Dr. Hayes' of which 'Winde gentle evergreen' (fol. 62v) is printed in Catches, glees and canons, for three, four and five voices composed by Dr. William Hayes, 1763. Other composers named are Dr. Arne, Baildon, Bird [Byrd] (Non nobis Domine: cf. Collected Vocal Works, ed. Fellowed, xvi, 1948, p. vi), John Eccles, Este, Ives, Thomas Linley, Mat. Lock [Locke], Ravenscroft, Dr. Benjamin Rogers, Shield and Webb [Webbe]. Some of these are found in the same printed collections as the pieces on fols. 3-41.
