Custodial History

With the armorial bookplate of Dr. John Lee of Hartwell, co. Bucks. (but without his name: the motto is Verum alque deceus) and MS. 491 in his collection: in the Hartwell sale (Edward D. Lee's books), Nov. 1888, lot 165.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The notebooks were bought from Messrs. Bull and Auvache on 11 April 1889, for £1 1s.
