A recommendation of 'The Catholike Moderator ...' (4th impression, Lond., 1624), signed 'C. E.' and addressed to 'Sr J. B.' This was written when there was a project at Oxford of reprinting the book from the printed edition mentioned above, which is here appended to the recommendation (foll. 14-59), corrected for the press and marked 'Jmprimatur Joh: Venn Vice-can, Oxoñ Junij 6to 1687.'

The Catholike Moderator is a translation from the French, and the original (the Examen pacifique de la doctrine des Huguenots, Paris, 1589, etc.), which is anonymous, is stated in the introduction to the English edition to be by H. C.; but has been attributed to card. Jacques Davy Du Perron! Fol. 2 is a fragment of an English Protestant work in the same hand, and fol. 6 is a prayer, stated to be in the hand of Henry Gandy, bishop among the Nonjurors.
