Forty-two short poems in English and Latin
Forty-two short poems in English and Latin, of which a full catalogue in manuscript is in the Library. On fol. 1 is a deleted title 'Carminum etc. memorabilium ex diversis authoribus collcctorum libellus.'
Among them are the following:
- (fol. 7v) Six short Latin poems on the Louvre (Lupara) at Paris;
- (fol. 13) Bacon's poem 'The world's a bubble' and the parode 'The world's a globe of state,' each with a Latin and a Greek translation;
- (fol. 25) 'Clusius Oxoniensis renatus,' Latin verses on the recasting of the great bell at Christ Church in 1680, by 'mr. Sparks';
- (fol. 30) 'Verses spoken . . . [at Oxford] before their Royal Highnesses & the Lady Anne ... May ... 1683,' by five authors.
From (fol. 45v) the handwritings differ and are slightly later.
(fol. 53-end) are blank.
On the inner front cover is the date, Apr. 24, 1681.
