'Vrsacius and Valens examined vpon their Remarks and Animadversions on the Vindication of the Primitive Fathers against the Imputations of Gilbert Lord Bishop of Sarum ... by Samuel Hill Rector of Killmington ...'
In 1694 bp. Burnet published some Discourses, to one of which Samuel Hill took violent exception in A Vindication of the Primitive Fathers (Lond. 1695). This was answered by [John Willes's] Remarks of an University man and [Peter Allix's] Animadversions on Mr. Hill's Book (both Lond. 1695).
The present volume consists of a copy of Hill's Latin letter to the archbp. of Canterbury by way of preface to 'Ursacius and Valens' (fol. iv), the printed 1st edition of the Vindication with a few manuscript corrections, and title for a second edition, and then (p. 1) the above examination of the Remarks and Animadversions.
A note by J. C (rossley) is on fol. i.
