The letters are in English and are sixteen in number, viz.:

  1. Ten from Brian Twyne to his father Thomas Twyne, A.D. 1596-7, 1601, 1607-9, 1612 (fols. 40, 42, 45v, 46, 47v, 49v, 60, 62, 72, 75)
  2. Four from Thomas Twyne to Bryan Twyne, A.D. 1605, 1609 (fols. 56, 58, 64, 67)
  3. Two by an unknown writer (fols. 53, 54) see also fol. 289.
  4. Four letters from mr. Ingram Bywater relating to Twyne's letters and the authorship of the MS. have been inserted at fol. 281
