Abstract

Glass slides showing gannets at Bass Rock

Biographical / Historical

Bass Rock is an island 2.5 miles offshore from North Berwick, and is home to a large colony of gannets. In the late 1980s a local businessman came up with the idea of using technology as a non-invasive way of observing the birds from shore, an idea which developed into the Scottish Seabird Centre, which was opened in 2000.
