Biographical / Historical
Charles White was born in Preston, Lancashire, in 1914. He was educated at Preston Grammar School and Balliol College, Oxford, where he graduated in classical literature and jurisprudence. He joined the Colonial Administrative Service in Southern Rhodesia in 1938 and retired in 1970. He died in Oxford in 1978.
