Letters of Richard Vaughan and John Henry Vaughan relating to the Hastings Rarities, with related newspaper cuttings
Letters of Richard Vaughan and John Henry Vaughan relating to the Hastings Rarities, 1962, with related newspaper cuttings (photocopies). They both felt that the birds struck off the British List at the time had been condemned prematurely, with not enough evidence or research into, for instance, whether there had been refrigerated ships in the area at the time on which the birds could have been brought into the country.
The letters comprise: a letter from Richard Vaughan to John Henry Vaughan, a letter from John Henry Vaughan to Richard Vaughan (enclosing a copy of his letter to the Times), and a letter from the British Ornithologists' Union to John Henry Vaughan.
