Volume belonging to Thomas Ground with a description of the contents at the front of the volume, dated 29 Nov 1917. The volume contains printed articles written by Robert Fisher Tomes for the Victoria History of the County of Worcestershire, published 1901, and two handwritten lists made by Ground of birds in the Victoria Institute Museum, Worcester (including those in the R.F. Tomes Collection), 6 Aug 1914.
There are also two loose items, a letter from Gertie [-] to 'Cousin Tom' enclosing a cutting about the green sandpiper, 3 Nov 1895, and a short note by C.A. Norris about the correct location of a Bartram's sandpiper specimen, 17 Dec 1949.

Biographical / Historical
Robert Fisher Tomes (1823-1904), Justice of the Peace, Corresponding Member of the Zoological Society, and Fellow of the Geological Society. An obituary of Tomes was published in the Geological Magazine, Volume 1, Issue 11, November 1904.
No biographical information is known about Thomas Ground.
A note by Thomas Ground at the front of the volume, dated 29 Nov 1917, says that the printed articles were "procured by me from Wilson, Bookseller, Birmingham, who had purchased the whole or part of Tomes' library at his death".
