Papers of J.C.W. Houghton relating to work on egg shell removal carried out with N. Tinbergen, G.J. Broekhuysen, F. Feekes, H. Kruuk and E. Szulc
The papers, which are heavily corrected or in draft form, comprise: results of tests on egg shell removal carried out in 1959 (typewritten with handwritten amendments), a typewritten copy of a letter (incomplete) discussing tests to be carried out in 1960, and handwritten tables of results with statistical analyses. Some of the handwritten papers are not identifiable as being in Houghton's hand, and the typewritten pages are believed to have been made by Tinbergen.
The papers probably relate to the article, 'Egg Shell Removal by the Black-Headed Gull (Larus ridibundus L.): a Behaviour Component of Camouflage', which was published in Behaviour, 19:74-117 (1962).
