The day-book or ledger of a professional London painter of heraldic escutcheons
The day-book or ledger of a professional London painter of heraldic escutcheons for funeral hatchments, family coaches and the like, who also supplied banners and other trappings of a funeral, 1711-19.
The nobility and gentry giving an order usually supplied information respecting the arms, and the book is accordingly furnished with many arms in trick, and sometimes even with seals and bookplates: but the name of the painter seems nowhere to occur. There is an index of the entries.
