'Heere ensueth the notable hystory of the most chaiste innocent Ioseph...'
'Heere ensueth the notable hystory of the most chaiste innocent Ioseph, sunne to the holy patriarke Iacob ... ', a poem in two parts, see fol. 90, and 47 + 89 chapters (beg. 'In Canaan that Countrey opulent'), in seven-line stanzas, rhyming ababbcc. There are three prefatory pieces, one a dedication to the duke of Norfolk, and an epilogue. At the end of the poem proper is 'Soli Deo honor ... Quod William Forrest', and after one more stanza 'Finis. 1569. die vero Aprilis: 11.'
This may be the author's autograph, for MS. Univ. coll. (Oxf.) 88, which is probably the presentation copy of the first part to the duke of Norfolk, is apparently based on this draft with its corrections.
