Biographical / Historical
John Henry Gurney (1848-1922), ornithologist, was one of the original members of the Norfolk and Norwich Naturalists' Society (founded 1869) and its President in 1881-1882, 1888-1889, 1898-1899 and 1919-1920. He was elected a Fellow of the Zoological Society in 1868, a Member of the British Ornithologists' Union in 1870 and a Fellow of the Linnean Society in 1885. His publications include The Gannet. A Bird with a History (1913).
