Biographical / Historical

Reverend Francis Linley Blathwayt (1875-1953) was educated at Malvern College and Hertford College, Oxford. He held curacies in Lincoln from 1900 to 1909 and was then successively Rector of Doddington, Lincolnshire (1909-1916), Melbury Osmond, Dorset (1916-1929), and Dyrham, Gloucestershire (1929-1953).

He was a member of the British Ornithologists' Union and served as Secretary of the Vertebrate Zoology Section of the Lincolnshire Naturalists' Union (1906-1919, President 1918), President of the Ornithological Section of the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society (1920-1949), and Vice-President of the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society (1925-1953).
