Abstract
Papers of Fitzwalter Camplyon Osmaston relating to Wytham Woods.
Biographical / Historical
Fitzwalter Camplyon Osmaston (1901-1979) served for 25 years in the Indian Forest Service. He was a lecturer in the Department of Forestry at the University of Edinburgh (from 1947) and a lecturer in the School of Forestry at the University of Oxford (from 1954). He was a founder member and a Fellow of St. Cross College, Oxford, founded 1965. His book, The Management of Forests, was published in 1968.
Wytham Woods is an ancient semi-natural woodland, owned and maintained by the University of Oxford since 1942. It is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
