Two books of miscellaneous notes useful to holders of the offices of Yeoman Bedel in Arts & Medicine (Item 1, 35 leaves), and Yeoman Bedel in Divinity (Item 2, 65 leaves). Both date from about the middle of the 18th century, and contain curious information about the public ceremonies and delegacies of the University, with additions up to 1879, signatures of bedels, fees, accepted Latin names of counties and towns for purposes of the Registers (Item 2, fol. 65v rev.), etc.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Item 1 was presented by mr. H. S. Harper on July 16, 1879, and item 2 probably at the same time by mr. John Haines, respectively the last holders of the two offices.
