Biographical / Historical

Mary Madan was the second wife of Spencer Madan (1729-1813), bishop of Peterborough. William Cowper (1731-1800) was a poet.

Bequeathed by Mary Madan to her step-sons, W. C. and Spencer Madan (p. 315); bought by Falconer Madan from Colbeck Radford, 1930.
