A notebook of facetious anecdotes, proverbs, and the like, apparently (from fol. 16 on) by Thomas Ellis, fellow of Jesus college, Oxford. The divisions are:

  1. Fol. 2v. Anecdotes and short poems in English and Latin
  2. Fol. 16. 'Outlandich Proverbs selected', i.e. select foreign proverbs in English
  3. Fol. 23. 'Adagiorum Britannicorum Specimen, Authore J[ohanne] Davies, SS. Th. D. Oxon', Welsh proverbs with Latin translation, collected by dr. John Davies of Lincoln college, Oxford (d. 1644), copied (see fol. 32v) on Dec. 12, 1653
  4. At fol. 45 is a copy of a petition for help addressed to archbp. Laud by the vice-principal and five other fellows of Jesus college, Oxford, apparently in 1633
  5. Some Welsh verses by William Powell of Brechin are at fol. 22, and a list of expenses for the voyage from Dover (?) to Calais on the end cover
  6. Fols. 33-44, 46-86 are blank
