Custodial History

Manuscript acquired by the Bodleian Library (26)

Immediate Source of Acquisition

'Ex dono Domini Patricij Junij Bibliothecæ regiæ in aedibus Jacobæis Westmonasterij Bibliothecarij doctissimi': but the difference of phrase and absence of date shows that the gift was not in 1639, see MS. Bodl. 899, MS. Autogr. e. 2: the Dutch covers can hardly be earlier than 1640, and Young died in 1652: so it was probably given about 1650. Young was spoken of as a possible Bodley's Librarian about that time.

Related Materials

The speech was printed from copies of this MS. in Plummer's Elizabethan Oxford (Oxf. Hist. Soc. viii, 1886), p. 263.

Physical Facet

On paper, with fancy Dutch paper covers, of about 1640
