A:

  1. Fol. 1. Part of an original return made by sir John Williams, treasurer of the king's jewels, of the gold
  2. Fol. 10. silver plate of surrendered monasteries, delivered to Henry viii in 1538-40: signed in six places by the king
  3. The first four leaves or so of the first part are wanting. A considerable amount of detail is given, and the whole has been printed in Memoirs of the antiquities of Great Britain relating to the Reformation (Lond. 1723)
  4. The total value of the gold plate is £29,906 2s. 11 1/4 d., and the weight of the silver 3,048 1/2 oz. See note on MS. Add. E. 3
  5. On fols. 17v, 18r are family records of the birth of three sons and four daughters of mr. and mrs. Southerton of London, 1572-85, with a note of a wedding at Walsall in 1581
  6. At fol. 18v is a copy of the attainder of Henry marquis of Exeter and others, 1538
  7. On fol. 59 is a later copy of the oath administered to Royal Commissioners of James i on fees in the Court of Chancery
  8. Fols. 3-4, 9, 20-58, 60-8 are blank

B:

  1. Fol. 69. 'The Arte of Poetrye', a verse translation of Horace's Ars Poetica: beg. 'A Paynter if hee should adioyne vnto a womans head'.
  2. Fol. 84. A list of the hundreds, towns, and villages of Buckinghamshire, but two leaves of some record have been lost before fol. 84.
  3. Fol. 87v. 'Regule atque Ordines nonnulle obseruande tam in Sessionibus Pacis quam in Sessionibus Gaole deliberacionis', with various forms incident to them, and an added memorandum (fol. 93v) about sessions at Aylesbury in 1549.
  4. Fol. 95v. Memorandum and records of sessions held in various parts of Buckinghamshire in 1548-9, before sir Anthony Lee and sir Robert Dormer, with the recognizances, constables, etc., in Latin.
