Music and music-related material from the archive of Gerald Finzi and his family. The collection includes a great number of manuscripts in Finzi's hand (mostly copies of music by other composers), manuscripts or dyeline and photocopies of works by other composers, sets of parts used by the Newbury String Players and other miscellaneous material, including autographs of Elizabeth Maconchy, Hubert Parry and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Biographical / Historical
Gerald Finzi (1901–1956) was a British composer and founder of the Newbury String Players. For details of his life and work see Oxford Music Online.
The present part of the Finzi archive was originally donated to the Reading University Library in 1974 by the composer's wife Joy. After the closure of the University's Music Department in 2004, the material was transferred to the Bodleian on the suggestion of the Finzi Trust.

Donated by the Reading University Library through the Finzi Trust, 2016 and 2017.
