En ce liure, qui contient soixante douze feillets de parchemin, sont pluzieurs armoiries de certains royaumes de l'Europe, des cent cinquante cheualiers de la table ronde, et de pluzieurs dues, comtes, marquis, chatelains, barons, et autres seigneurs et gentilshommes de diuers prouinces des royaumes de France Angleterre et Ecosse ...' with table of contents (fol. 1)
  2. The shields of arms, in colour, begin, 'Galaad, Perseual, Lancelot du Lac ...' (fol. 4)
  3. Between fols. 2-4 has been inserted a treatise addressed to 'mon trescher ... frere prince de Vienne' on Arthurian tournaments, written in a slightly earlier bastard hand, also with shields of the knights of the Round Table, the text beg. 'Done ce que toutes bonnes meurs sont regies par vertus' (fol. 3) and followed by the motto 'Le moien'

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Acquired by the Bodleian in 1675, by the gift of Christopher Justell's son, Henry Justell. Fol. 3 has 'Ex libris Henrici Justelli'. On fol. i is an obliterated inscription.

Physical Facet

On parchment, binding, red leather blind-tooled and stamped with the fleur-de-lys and leopard, illuminated throughout
