Biographical / Historical
George Sainton Kaye Butterworth (1885-1916) was an English composer and folk dancer. He was the only child of Sir Alexander Kaye Butterworth (1854-1946), who was a solicitor and general manager of the North Eastern Railway Company. His mother was Julia Marguertite (1849-1911), a professional soprano before her marriage.
