Papers of Dr Gerald Stone relating to Professor W.R. Morfill, assembled in the course of writing Morfill's entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. Includes:
- File 1: Correspondence about W.R. Morfill, including with his descendants, 1970-2009
- File 2: Research notes and papers including photocopies and transcripts of some letters written by Morfill (1877, 1885-1886, 1900-1907), copies of his marriage certificate, death certificate and will (stipulating that all his manuscripts be destroyed) and genealogical information on the Morfill family including 'The Morfills of Maidstone, Kent, and Park Town, Oxford' by Daphne Reece, c. 1997-2001
- File 3: Photographs (copies) of W.R. Morfill and members of his family, of his grave in St Sepulchre's Churchyard, Oxford, and of the unveiling of a blue plaque at his house in Park Town, Oxford, in 2009, c. 1997-2009

William Richard Morfill (1834-1909) was a Slavonic languages scholar who spent most of his career at the University of Oxford, being appointed professor in 1900.
