Biographical / Historical
George Williams (bap. 1762, d. 1834), a physician at the Radcliffe Infirmary and professor of botany at Oxford, was appointed to the post of Radcliffe Librarian in 1810. He expanded the library's holdings in natural history, sciences and medicine, transforming it into an important scientific repository.
