Abstract
Papers of the Oxford University Ashmolean Club, 1860-2017.
Biographical / Historical
The origins of the Club are not absolutely clear. Although the first minute book of the Club (present elsewhere in Bodleian collections under the shelfmark MS. Top. Oxon. f. 64) is dated 1869-1930, some of the members mentioned in it are recorded as having been elected in previous years. The purpose of the Club is to enable those sympathetic to science at Oxford to meet informally. Further historical information can be found in a booklet 'A hundred years of the Ashmolean Club 1869-1969'.
